Devil’s Hand, part 2

MT: The power to manipulate iron

I see… the culprits are the Boom Boom family.
If I had gotten near you, I would have died without realizing it. [grr. I don't like this... I can't figure out how to work the w/o realizing it into the sentence.]

So I shall get back.

G: What the heck! You…!

And the Boom Boom family too! Are you human? What’s going on?

MT: And what about you? What’s with that steel ball?

G: It is my technique. [Or should I say "skill" or "art"?]
It is of the unknown aspect of humanity. [This sounds too formal and wordy.. How about "humans have mysterious aspects..." ]

MT: As expected, humans have unknown powers. Then I shall simply explain it to you.

Fifteen years ago, in 1875, when I was sixteen… I had joined the army, and we were surveying an unmapped part of the Arizona desert. But my platoon of sixteen had gotten lost in the desert. For days we wandered around seeking water.

J: Lost?! The brigade?

MT: There was a frightening place which the local Indians called the Devil’s Palm. It was there my platoon entered.

In that place, compasses completely ceased to work. Also, because of the flow of the sand, the land changed; because of that, my unit was lost.

Mountains that should have been there disappeared, valleys appeared, the topography altered.

It seems the Devil’s Palm can move entire kilometers in a day.

Where it was last month, this month, it is no longer.

According to the legends of the Indians, long ago a falling star landed, destroying everything and cursing it.

How large it is, no one knows.
Where it is, whether one shall arrive there, is unknown…. For tens of thousands of years, it has shifted around the desert.

MT: In the end, we couldn’t find an oasis. Our horses died. My comrades collapsed, one by one.
As did I.. As expected, I was roasting to death.

But, this was a land which determines one’s destiny. [unsure about this]

Somehow, I awoke.

It was night.

Night…

The scanty evening dew..

Formed on the rope.

My body sucked it up

While I was unconscious

The rope and my body had become one.

I was the only one left alive.

MT: It must have been because of some attractive force…

The Devil’s Palm draws out hidden abilities sleeping within humans.

J: …

MT: The Indians call these cursed powers. That may be. Perhaps I am someone who was meant to die with the rest of my unit.
I personally call this unit a “stand.”

There’s no mistaking it! The Boom Boom family have also come near the Devil’s Palm!

Johnny: A Stand.

G: The magnetism has mostly weakened. Good. Now let the rope down.

G: Finding those guys and defeating them, it’s the only way to continue our journey!

LA: No… I don’t think that’ll be necessary.

It’s not necessary to search or separate.
You can only…. get closer together.

?: These guys

LA: Neh, dad? That’s what dad said.

Ben: Need help, LA? Can you cut the rope by yourself?
That bastard Mountain Tim’s rope…

LA: Eh… I think I can.. But my confidence… [What's he trying to say here...]

J: Iron sand!

G: Is it
Iron sand?

They’ve gathered the iron from the earth and given it form!

J: It’s got us… heavy.

G: It’s flowing up to Mountain Tim!

Ben: I said it was dangerous alone, LA!

Bind them up with iron sand. Don’t let them do anything.

Ben: Happy? We’ve been lucky. [uncertain as to whether I should translate it as happy or lucky.]
Now cut Mountain Tim’s rope.

LA: Aaah… Dad, I’m so happy. [Maybe it should be relieved.]

J: Ro…

The rope was cut! He’s coming! It’s all over!

MT: H..Heavy…

BB family: Whatever you do in this magnetic field… it’s no use!!!!

G: Johnny! Your hand is free! Do it! You can do it!

J: Eh?

G: The spin, Johnny!
If you use the spin, you can get them!
A shot fell over there, grab it!

J: What was that? What are you saying?

G: The bullet! The bullet Mountain Tim just fired at them!
It’s lead, so it can fly within the magnetic field without interference. Make that bullet spin!

J: M-me?

J: It’s no use! He’s coming! Mountain Tim is floating here!

?: Ugh…

?: Uaaaah! It’s bursting!!

Benjamin BB: They’re stuck together! How many meters will their insides fly? Can we set a new gut record?

G: Johnny! Lesson Three!

That time at the camp… You said you made it spin! The bullet is the same! Make it fly!

J: That cork… It was by accident!

G: Believe in the spin! The power of the spin is infinite! Believe in that!

G: Do it, Johnny!!!! It’s the only way!!!!!

J: Can… I do it? I only spun it once.

J: But, that’s why I entered this race…
To know the secret of the spin
To make the spin my own

?: Do it! If you don’t, it’s all over now!

G: My body is exploding! Johnny!

J: It spun! It spun! It spun! Gyro!!!

Ben: Come down from there a bit, L.A.
Don’t take your eyes off them till the end.

Let’s watch this death struggle. [uncertain... help]

Johnny: It’s useless! Gyro! I can’t do it!
I can’t do it!

LA: No…
Dad…
What’s that?
No, dad, we shouldn’t “observe”!
Get back dad, his hand is doing something! Get back quick!
Johnny: Ah!

MT: Jo…Johnny Joestar!

G: Johnny! What’s that?!

Johnny: M-my hand… My nails… W..what is this, Gyro! My nails are spinning!

MT: Could it be…. A Stand?!

Gyro: What is this? What’s causing this?
It’s not because of the steel ball’s spin!

LA: I told you to get back, dad! Get back quick! …your leg!!!

Benjamin BB: Waaaah!
